RIP GLENN BEARNE 1951 – 2026

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our great friend and Mariners Away crew member, Glenn Bearne, passed away on Monday, 16th March.

Glenn joined Mariners Away in the autumn of 2021 and quickly became a valued and much-liked member of the crew. He would have celebrated his 75th birthday at the end of this month.

He was not just part of the group, but a key member of the heart of it – bringing real commitment, warmth and a genuine love of our music to every practice night and performance. His presence and wicked, dry humour both on and off the stage, will be deeply missed by us all.

This has been a poignant week for Mariners Away, while we have continued to sing, Glenn has very much been in our thoughts, and he will remain so every time we gather and raise our voices together.

Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to Glenn’s family, especially his dear wife Bev at this very difficult time, and everyone who loved him.
